Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a rare skin sarcoma that presents as a large growing scar that arises without any prior injury to the skin. They are treated with surgery and sometimes require radiation or systemic therapy after. While they don’t spread inside the body as often as other sarcomas, they have very high risk for recurrence and local tissue destruction. In pathology, the cells appear like swimming purple fish and create a “honey comb” appearance in the fat. #dermatologist #s
